We would love to see you (and your Packard) there! \nThis is also a great opportunity to explore Proving Grounds and witness the extraordinary progress that has been made to the restoration and upkeep of this historic property. The Proving Grounds features buildings designed by noted industrial architect Albert Kahn\, and the facility was used by the Chrysler Corporation to test tanks during WWII.  \nMark your calendar for the 2024 event\, which will be held on June 9. SUMMARY:1931 Packard Salon Special Showing at the Packard Proving Grounds
DESCRIPTION:During the Golden Age of the automobile\, the great marques held glamorous salons to showcase their finest new offerings to the elite of the driving public. Our friends at the Packard Proving Grounds are bringing back that magic with the 1931 Packard Salon Special Showing\, a new event held at the historic Proving Grounds site north of Detroit.  \nAs the name suggests\, this gathering will feature 1931 Packards displayed on the historically significant Proving Grounds site. Show cars are invite-only. The public is invited to view the cars on Wednesday\, May 29 from Noon to 5 PM; ticket cost is $20. A black tie-optional dinner follows at 6 PM\, with a cost of $100 per seat. This is a great way to support the ongoing restoration work at the Packard Proving Grounds\, as well as an opportunity to learn about the many great improvements that have already been made.  \nAny event at the Proving Grounds is a good time\, and this one promises to be something special. Head to the Packard Proving Grounds site for more information on the public viewing and the dinner afterward.

Show off all the improvements you’ve made over the winter\, or ask fellow members for tips for solving any pesky problems you’re still trying to work out. Additionally\, Bob Ferrand will be giving a tech talk.  \nThe event will take place rain or shine\, with all activities held in an indoor\, heated workshop. A main lunch dish will be provided\, along with water and soft drinks. Members are encouraged to bring a dish to pass.  \nHave Packard parts to sell? There will also be an opportunity to do so\, swap meet-style\, on site.  \nThis event is open to Motor City Packard members only\, although family members and guests are welcome. Join now to participate in this and other great events! \nSave the dates of Friday\, September 29\, and Saturday\, September 30 now for our return to historic Port Huron\, located along the picturesque St. Clair River at the southern end of Lake Huron. We are still finalizing the event\, but we plan to have a full slate of venues and activities. We will start before lunch on Friday morning with a tour of a private car collection. \nAdditional activities being finalized include: \n• Lunch Friday at Freighters on the St. Clair River\n• The Thomas Edison train station\n• The Port Huron Museum\n• Lighthouse Park and the oldest lighthouse in Michigan\n• Dinner at Vintage Restaurant (in a building that was built in 1904)\n• The Wills Sainte Claire Museum with the largest collection of Wills autos in the world\n• A catered lunch on Saturday\, which will be the official end of the tour\n• More details to come! \nAlmost 10 years ago\, MCP held a previous overnighter in Port Huron\, and over 40 members attended\, along with 19 Packards. DESCRIPTION:Please mark your calendar for The Third Annual “Ten Days of Packard” (TDOP)\, being held from Friday\, August 14 to Sunday\, August 23\, 2020! \nAs you may recall\, the Ten Days of Packard is essentially a do-it-yourself event.  The purpose is to get your car out\, whether it is to a local park\, a favorite hangout or place in your town\, the Packard Proving Grounds\, the Packard Plant\, a drive-in movie theater\, or just go for a ride.  If you look in the current July-August issue of The Packard Digest\, you will see some examples from previous years. \nThe Packards always draw a thumbs-up\, smiles\, and you may have to explain that Packard was not part of General Motors.  We are hoping for a really big turnout this year\, as there are numerous reports of Packards getting restless from the stay-at-home orders that have resulted in them being stuck in garages and storage facilities — and their owners are restless too! \nWe plan to feature many pictures on the MCP Facebook page\, as well as a bit later on the MCP Website and then in an issue of The Packard Digest.  So why not do your car a favor\, yourself a favor\, and the world a favor\, and drive your car anywhere you want\, take a picture\, and send it with a description of your car and where the photo was taken to our Executive Director\, Kevin Luedtke .

Located at 801 Kirk Profit Drive\, Ypsilanti Michigan. Get up close to an amazing array of rare classic cars\, selected by invitation only\, and historic aircraft all on display together on the tarmac. Outstanding opportunities to chat up the owners and capture great photos. \nThe general public is welcome and tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 on the day of the event. Kids 15 and under are free. Plenty of free parking available and food trucks will be on site. Net event proceeds benefit the Yankee Air Museum. \nThis is the destination of the year for automotive and aviation cognoscenti. Air Adventure rides will be available on Yankee Air Museum’s vintage World War Two era aircraft\, a B-17 Flying Fortress\, B-25 Mitchell and C-47 Skytrain along with its Waco biplane. \nWings and Wheels Flyer 2020
