The Back to the Bricks car show was started in Flint in 2005. Over the past 20 years, the attendance grew steadily from a few hundred cars to well over 2500. Vehicle enthusiasts enjoy the convenience of walking the historic brick Saginaw Street, viewing the parked show cars at their leisure, making the spectator experience more enjoyable. Plenty of food and refreshments were available from local restaurants, Flint Farmers Market, food trucks, and street vendors.
Back to the Bricks has grown to become the largest car gathering in Michigan north of Detroit. Thanks to Bruce Blevins and the cooperation of the Back to the Bricks Committee, Motor City Packard’s was able to get a prime spot for Packard’s at Saginaw and First Streets, very close to the center of all the activity.
Motor City Packards graced Flint with the presence of 8 Packards on Saturday to represent the legacy of Packard and its contribution to the auto industry and economy of Michigan.
The crowds were enthusiastic despite the warm day, and there were a lot of questions about the Packards, and a lot of photographs taken, particularly of the hood ornaments.
Among the participating cars were:
1939 Packard 8 Coupe– Richard Throop
1933 Eight Sedan – Bruce Blevins
1937 Super 8 Convertible Victoria – Dani Homrich
1937 120 Sedan – Tom Skunda
1954 Clipper Panama – Jim Cuttill
1956 Caribbean Convertible – ED Cuttill
1950 2 DOOR CLUB SEDAN – Buck Gorleau, Non-Member
1956 400 – Thomas Ossowski
